A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER
I grew up on the edge of East London and first became interested in clothing during the football casuals movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Back then, what you wore was more than fashion. It was identity, confidence and a way of expressing who you were before you had even said a word.
That understanding stayed with me throughout my Army career. But after retiring—and dealing with loss and injury—I found myself without the purpose and confidence that had shaped much of my adult life.
I know what it feels like to lose sight of yourself.
For me, dressing well and taking better care of myself made an almost immediate difference. It wasn’t about vanity or trying to become somebody else. It helped me reconnect with who I already was. Once I started down that path, looking after myself, dressing with intention and feeling good became a way of life.
I created The Fifth Quarter Gentleman to help other men find their own way forward—whatever brought them to that point.
It may be retirement, divorce, separation, a new career, an important event or simply the feeling that life has changed and the man in the mirror hasn’t quite caught up. Many men know they want something to change but don’t know where to begin or what they should be wearing.
That’s where we come in.
I want every man we work with to feel alive again—to understand that there is nothing selfish about putting himself first. You can depend on us to listen, understand what you need and act in your best interests throughout your next chapter and beyond.
This isn’t about chasing fashion. It’s about helping you look like yourself, feel like yourself and move forward with confidence.
